What it's like in Ocala vs South Florida?

There are trees and forests everywhere in Ocala with dogwoods and hollies among the pines and oaks. Empire magnolias are blooming now. And, the Cross Florida Greenway is our neighbor so we are visited by a host of different birds - small wrens to quite large black crows. Butterflies, in profusion, are visiting our flowers. Yet, we have not seen one squirrel. Not that we're complaining, for that means the bird seed is reserved for its intended audience. But, it seems odd.
